Anchorax is a U.S.-based manufacturer of protective paints, coatings, and specialty surface systems engineered for various environments. Serving customers nationwide, our capabilities include manufacturing, toll manufacturing, private label production, and technical collaboration to support contractors, distributors, and industrial partners with dependable coating solutions.
Our Story
1975
Our roots trace back to the 1970s, when chemical engineers Tom and Harry Wischmeier founded a coatings company that would establish a legacy still felt more than 50 years later.
Chemical engineer brothers Tom and Harry Wischmeier founded Anchor Coatings in Leesburg, Florida with a vision to manufacture high-quality coating products with an emphasis on performance and responsible manufacturing.
As Central Florida experienced rapid commercial and residential growth, demand for dependable paints and coatings increased alongside it. Anchor Coatings grew within that expanding market, developing foundational products and earning a reputation for reliable manufacturing in the region.
Several of the early formulations developed during this era helped establish the company’s reputation, and some legacy product foundations continue to influence offerings still in the market today.
1989
In 1989, the Wishmeyers sold the company to a local family, who would go on to grow one of the most reputable and well-known paint companies in Central Florida.
Gary Tutor and Debbie Tutor purchased Anchor Coatings in Leesburg, Florida, beginning a decades-long chapter of growth, hard work, and industry leadership. Under the Tutor family’s leadership, Anchor Coatings grew into a respected regional manufacturer, eventually supplying coating products to customers across the United States and neighboring countries.
For more than 45 years, Gary and Debbie carried forward the legacy established by the Wishmeyer family, building a company defined by craftsmanship, resilience, and deep coatings expertise.
2026
In 2026, Amanda Kelley and Emery Schick founded Anchorax, continuing a family legacy that spans decades in the coatings industry. That legacy ultimately led to the acquisition of the legacy operations of Anchor Coatings, strengthening Anchorax with generations of manufacturing knowledge and experience.
Anchorax acquired the legacy operations of Anchor Coatings Manufacturing as Gary Tutor and Debbie Tutor entered retirement after decades in the coatings industry.
Their experience, work ethic, and commitment to quality helped shape the foundation on which Anchorax was built.
While Anchorax represents a new chapter, it carries forward a legacy of real-world manufacturing knowledge, field experience, and long-term commitment to protective coating performance, while building toward the future of more advanced surface systems.
